A very distinctive style, this Châteauneuf doesn’t lead with fruit, but with a savory overlay of warm earth, salty mineral, smoke and singed garrigue, while notes of wild berry and plum sauce emerge alongside crushed iron. This is big and bold, yet there’s delicacy here too. Sandalwood, brown bread and alder smoke echo on the long, spicy finish, with fine tannins and beautiful textural purity.
